Equipment List

You’ll need to bring with you:

Your digital camera(s), lenses and camera manuals—a camera equipped with manual shutter and aperture controls with at least 10 megapixels is preferred. Please read your manual and at least be familiar with where the controls are—it's both time-consuming and frustrating to try to find that darn histogram control when you don't have a clue about where to find it.

Your PC or Mac laptop computer with CD burner; 1GB Ram required, 2GB Ram (or more) preferred. We have laptop computers for rent if you need one.

Adobe Photoshop CS4 or Adobe Lightroom installed on your laptop—30-day free trial versions are available from www.adobe.com.

Digital memory cards (several, 4 or 8 GB - they're now cheap) with card reader.

Power adapters and cables for laptop and digital camera.

Batteries and charger for rechargeable batteries. Having spare batteries and memory cards has become a necessity—there's nothing worse (photographically) than to be out of memory or juice when that once-in-a-lifetime image comes along.

A digital flash memory drive of at least 2 gigabytes, also called USB drives or thumbnail drives. We use these for quick exchange of images between computers. Spares are available if you need one.

Blank CDs or DVDs for burning images (optional if you use flash memory cards). A backup external hard drive is a great idea, too.

A sturdy tripod and cable release for your camera are important tools for landscape work, and while I consider them necessities, you may not. Consider bringing one along.

Clothes, shoes and outer ware for the season and terrain. Umbrellas are available.

Enthusiasm, an open mind and a desire to learn.
